Northern indie rock boys venture south...The Courteeners are at the Royal Albert Hall tonight in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust

These Northerners have know each other since they were ten years old...and it has paid off. Originally from Middleton, they started performing at open mic nights in Manchester. The lead singer, Liam Fray was so passionate he left Salford University there to develop the band.

In October 2008 they started a sell-out tour of major venues across the UK including two nights at the Manchester Apollo and The Empire in Shepherds Bush in London. One of their first slots in December 2008 was a support slot with the Sterephonics' album tour, Decade in the Sun Tour.
