Looking for something different this weekend..? Try Electric Six

This Friday (2nd March) quirky-punk-rock band Electric Six play at the O2 Academy in Islington.

The band describe themselves as “music for people who don’t like music” have a unique style. The six-piece American band from Detroit have a unique style of rock, infused with elements of garage, disco, punk rock, new wave, and metal. The lead singer, Dick Valentine and founder of the band refuses to label the band to any particular genre. They met fame in 2003 when they released the abrasive but addictive single "Danger! High Voltage" and the infamous "Gay Bar" with an equally controversial video to go with it. Since then they have produced 16 albums, heavily influenced by Black Sabbath and Queen. The UK can’t seem to get enough of Electric Six with their slightly “un-pc” lyrics and off the wall sounds. The band made it into several best-of-2003 lists as well as reaching the top 10 in the UK album chart, and had four hit singles in the UK.
